The Alps - between fascination and madness

Austria is an Alpine country. The beauty of the mountains, the fascination of the glaciers, the charm of the deep snow, the infinite peace and quiet, natural spectacles and the love of nature attract thousands of people to the mountains every year.

But the beauty is deceptive and ignorance of the area and ignorance of the peculiarities of nature can become a deadly danger.

So that you too can get to know and enjoy the fascination of the mountain world, official bodies such as the Federal Ministry of Economics, Austria Advertising, Tyrol or Salzburg Advertising, tourism associations etc. recommend that hikers and mountaineers who are inexperienced and unfamiliar with the terrain join a mountain guide.

The mountain guides are well trained in guiding people in the alpine region, assessing the dangers and practicing the sport offered.

The alpine schools will provide you with information about tours and routes, the right equipment, and ideal times for the ascent (especially for ski and glacier tours).

In order to make it easier for you to recognize the alpine and mountaineering schools that offer you maximum service and safety, the Association of Austrian Alpine Schools in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs created the seal of quality for the Austrian Alpine Schools.
The seal of approval from the Austrian Alpine Schools is a sign of the quality and safety of a tour or course led by a certified guide!
